Welcome to Lads Without Labels

A big thank you for signing up for Lads Without Labels 2024. We are excited to have you along for the journey as we continue to normalise conversations around mental health and offer support to UC students with fun and engaging events year-round. Below we have a bit about who we are, a message from our President and links to our sign-ups as well as the confirmed date for our official launch of Lads!

Clubs Day 2024

We had a blast at Clubs Day last week! It was great to connect and kōrero with so many of you. We had fun chatting about what we're about, our initiatives, and what exciting things we have coming up. We were also excited to be able to showcase our 2024 Merch design with pre-orders available, as well as having our Flat Chats and Ugly Boys Running Club sign-ups open.

Flat Chats

Flat Chats sign-ups are now open for 2024! Flat Chats is one of our initiatives where we provide a dinner for University of Canterbury students at a randomly chosen flat once a week.

We come to you to discuss well-being and strategies to improve students’ mental health in an informal and relaxed way. Flat chats are a way to build community and connection with your flatmates as during study, your friends and flatmates are essentially whānau.

Our Flat Chats coordinators are trained in community-level mental health first aid to help you open up the space where you can have impactful conversations and support your flatties during a time of life that is changing and can be challenging.

Ugly Boys

If you didn't sign up to Ugly Boys on Clubs Day you still can! Ugly Boys is a space to exercise and build a sense of community with those outside of your social circle. Whether you’re a longtime runner, new to the game, or maybe running is even a New Year's resolution, this is the group for you! What better way to look after your mind and body than joining Ugly Boys as a way to socialise, get outside, and get some fresh air?

Message from 2024 President, Tom

Kia Ora Whānau and welcome from the 2024 Lads team! I want to start by extending a huge thank you to all of our sponsors, supporters, returning members and new faces! Our community is the very fabric of who we are and we can't thank you enough for your consistent support!

We have another exciting year in store with plenty of old favourites returning (with improvements) plus some exciting new events and initiatives on the cards! 2024 also sees the first full year where we have our counselling fund rolled out and ready for use - so please reach out and utilise it for yourself or someone you know if you’re in need!

We hope to see you all throughout our stacked calendar this year and for all those new faces make sure you come and introduce yourselves to our exec! Good luck all for the year to come and I’m looking forward to another bigger and better year!

Cheers, Tom and the Lads Team
